The platform Pact of Coexistence<\/strong>made up of the undersigned civil society organisations and institutions, we wish to express our pain, affection and solidarity to the victims of the terrorist attacks in Barcelona and Cambrils, to their families and friends, and to all citizens shocked by these events, which we condemn absolutely and unreservedly. With firm conviction and willingness to work, we reaffirm our civic duty to build coexistence and social cohesion, and our intention to work together to achieve a society that yearns to live together in plurality and with the utmost mutual respect;<\/p>\n

We join all those who reject and condemn these terrorist attacks, and we repudiate the religious instrumentalisation by criminal organisations such as DAESH in the service of a fanatical intolerance that only leaves in its wake the pain and suffering of thousands of innocent people around the world.<\/p>\n

We also denounce and condemn the Islamophobic reactions, the attacks on mosques and Muslim centres, and the acts of incitement to hatred in all its forms generated in recent days in Spain. In the face of hate speech and hate crimes we call for the intervention of the authorities of our country. We also express our solidarity with the victims.<\/p>\n

We ask the institutions and citizens to show the greatest solidarity with the victims of terrorism and to make a common effort to eradicate these organisations of criminal fundamentalism. We also urge the maximum active commitment in defence of human dignity, human rights and democratic values for the construction of tolerant, welcoming and inclusive societies. To this end, we call today for the active prevention of violent radicalisation and, in particular, the protection of minors from such radicalisation.<\/p>\n

The entities subscribing to this Pact of Coexistence<\/strong> express their intention to develop all kinds of initiatives within their reach, including calls for citizen mobilisation which, within the framework of their objectives of prevention and intervention against radicalisation towards violent extremism, contribute to the promotion of coexistence in a democratic, peaceful, free and egalitarian society.<\/p>\n
